Partners

Nooku is a collaborative effort driven by the highest-level Joomla! coders, business and non-government agency demand.  From this powerful alliance, what  emerges is a professional-level addition to the world's most popular open source CMS.

The Nooku story germinated from a seed of an idea created during a conversation between Joomla! lead architect Johan Janssens and government and NGO stakeholders who wanted multi-lingual magic, better than anything that had previously existed.

To this end, the initial concept and execution has been broadened by attracting more interest and partners who similarly needed a comprehensive solution to improve their scalability, administrator experience and, of course, deliver a multi-lingual powerhouse.

Our partners thus far fall into two categories — supporters and integrators.  Our supporters include the United Nations and Belgian Police.  Partners who will leverage commercially, using Nooku in Joomla! 1.5 multi-lingual deployments are our first certified integrators.

The Belgian Local Police has part funded Nooku development to allow it to provide localised content in three languages.

"The Belgian Local Police is organised in 196 police zones. We represent a group of 40.000 police-officers. Each zone has its own website created by Joomla!  As a Belgian public service we need to be (by law) trilingual (Dutch, French and German)."

- Marc Alen Commissioner of Police

The United Nations Regional Information Centre provides information and documentation to the countries of the region. Its information outreach activities extend to all segments of society and joint projects and events are organized with key partners, including governments, the media, NGOs, educational institutions and local authorities.

A common UNRIC website is operational in 13 languages of the region: Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Nederlands (Dutch/Flemish), Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. Each language site gives information about the most important current UN-related events, activities and observances, as well as UNRIC and UN family programmes in the region.

"If you are thinking multi-language; Nooku is a must have! Without it we couldn't even think to migrate to Joomla 1.5 As our website needs to drive 13 different languages. People who will use it won't believe the features and it's perfect integration with Joomla. For us this made a giant step forward to improve our web presence. It's just brilliant!"

- Phillipe Chabot, ICT Coordinator, UNRIC

delius has extensive experience in building complex, multilingual Joomla! sites. In addition to its CMS work, they deliver web-based applications based on open source solutions in fields such as CRM and online payment processing. delius works with companies and non-profit organisations.

"First of all, we like Joomla!. We’re able to do what we need to do, and do it elegantly, with a lot of reuse. From a business perspective, that’s a strong plus. Smart development team, great community, open-minded and eager to learn from other projects … you all know how important that is.

Secondly – we need the solution. We’ve used Joom!Fish throughout several versions of Joomla!, and for us it’s not the way to go.

Finally – we wanted to give something back to the Joomla! community. We make money by doing projects with Joomla!. The community is a source of advice, learning, sympathy. I guess this is our way of saying ’thanks’."

- Paul Delbar, Delius
